Longarm FAQs
Backing
-
At a minimum your backing needs to be 4” larger than your quilt top on all four sides. For example if your quilt top measures 60x80 your backing will need to be 68x88. If your backing is smaller than the requested size requirement, our frame may not be able to adequately secure your quilt and we may request that you send alternate backing or additional yardage.
-
If your quilt top is directional and you have a directional pantograph/design please put a marker/pinned note on your quilt top to indicate the “top” or “bottom” of your quilt.
-
We will do our best to square it on the frame while quilting but if you would like to square your top/batting/backing items before shipping the additional measures are appreciated.
-
Absolutely! Please see the rates page for charges. Please let us know if you would like us to pattern match. If your backing has a large pattern repeat we will require more than the requested 4 inches on each side to accommodate the pattern match.

Yes & No. If you have some really long thread please do a quick sweep and trim those up so our machine doesn’t snag one and cause damage. The other purpose of trimming threads is to prevent threads of a darker color from showing through a lighter colored fabric on your quilt top. We will do our best to trim threads on your quilt top as we go.
